“Christmas Celebration at Arrupe Library, St. Joseph’s College”
The Arrupe Library of St. Joseph’s College celebrated Christmas in a meaningful and creative manner on 22 December 2025. The celebration highlighted the spirit of Christmas through knowledge, faith, and community bonding.
As a tradition, the Arrupe Library celebrates Christmas every year with a unique crib and Christmas tree, creatively designed to convey a meaningful message. Continuing this tradition, this year’s celebration featured a Christmas crib artistically created using books, symbolising the library as the “House of Wisdom.” The book-based crib beautifully conveyed the message that true wisdom and light emerge through learning, reflection, and faith.

The celebration was led by Dr. X. Mercy Angeline, Librarian, who coordinated the event. The Christmas message was delivered by Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Arockiam, SJ, Library Director, who reflected on the deeper meaning of Christmas, emphasizing wisdom, humility, service, and the role of libraries in nurturing enlightened minds.
Library staff members and students actively participated in the celebration, making the occasion prayerful and joyful. The event fostered a sense of togetherness and reinforced the library’s role not only as a centre of learning but also as a space for cultural and spiritual enrichment.
The Christmas celebration at Arrupe Library stood as a testimony to the harmonious blending of knowledge, faith, and community spirit, marking the season with reverence and creativity.
