The Department of Commerce (Shift–II), organized an Awareness Programme on “Drug and Alcohol Abuse” under the auspices of the Wellness Club at 4.30 PM in the Sail Hall on 18.12.2025.The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. D. Kumar, Deputy Principal, St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli, felicitated the programme and who stressed the role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens and appreciated the Wellness Club for organizing such a relevant and impactful programme.

The Chief Guest for the programme was Ms. G. Manjeswari, Sexual Health Therapist, Kauvery Hospital, Tiruchirappalli. In her insightful session, she highlighted the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug and alcohol abuse. She also emphasized the importance of mental well-being, self-control, peer influence management, and seeking professional help when required. Her talk was informative, interactive, and well-received by the students.

The event was organized under the guidance of by Dr.B.Augustine Arockiaraj, Coordinator and Dr. B. Nalini, Wellness Club In-Charge who coordinated the programme efficiently.
The session concluded with active student participation, discussions, and a clear message on the importance of leading a disciplined, healthy, and substance-free life. The programme successfully achieved its objective of sensitizing students to the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and encouraging positive behavioral changes.
