ICWA collaborated Two-Day National Seminar on India’s Foreign Policy Held at St. Joseph’s College, Former UN Representative Participates.
The Department of Postgraduate and Research Studies in Commerce, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchi, in collaboration with the Indian Council of World Affairs, New Delhi, organised a two-day national seminar on “India’s Key Foreign Policy Priorities:

Neighbourhood, Extended Neighbourhood and Global Transitions” on July 6 and 7 at the St.Joseph’s college, SAIL Auditorium.

Delivering the inaugural address, Mr. T.S. Tirumurti, IFS (Retd.), former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations and Distinguished Professor at IIT Madras, spoke on “Navigating a Changing World and India’s Role.” He highlighted India’s leadership, Operation Sindoor, digital infrastructure, and how India has emerged as a key guiding force through its balanced foreign policy.

He said India’s foreign policy must rest on strategic autonomy, realism and pragmatic engagement. He said India’s growing digital infrastructure, development partnerships and balanced diplomacy have strengthened the country’s global standing, while also helping it emerge as a more confident voice in an unsettled world. Dr. Tesu Singh, Research Officer, ICWA, New Delhi, was the guest of honour and spoke about the Council’s contributions to policy research and diplomacy.

Rev. Fr. Paulraj Michael, Rector of St. Joseph’s Institutions, delivered the presidential address. Rev. Fr. Arokiasamy, Secretary, and Rev. Fr. K. Arokiam, Principal, offered felicitations. The seminar featured speakers from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Rashtriya Raksha University, Gujarat; Loyola College, Chennai; and Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur, among others. More than 200 participants, including professors, research scholars and students from various institutions, presented research papers during the event. At the valedictory function, Rev.Fr. Arul Oli, Vice Principal, distributed certificates to participants. The National Conference was convened by Dr. V. Bastin Jerome. Dr. S. Aruldass, organising secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
