District Social Welfare Department and Department of Economics, Holy Cross College, Trichy – Promote Awareness on Senior Citizen Welfare,Tiruchirappalli, 23.09.2026. The District Social Welfare Department, Tiruchirappalli, in collaboration with the PG & Research Department of Economics, Holy Cross College (Autonomous), organised a Poster Making Competition on the theme “Senior Citizen” under the State Action Plan for Senior Citizens (SAPSrC) at Holy Cross College.
A total of 31 students participated in the competition, expressing their ideas through creative posters that highlighted the dignity, care and well-being of senior citizens and the importance of respecting and supporting the elderly.

Mrs. K. Rohini, Specialist in Financial Literacy, Hub Empowerment of Women, District Social Welfare Office, Trichy, delivered the special address. She spoke about the invaluable contributions of senior citizens to families and society and encouraged students to uphold the values of care, dignity and responsibility towards the elderly.
Prizes were distributed to the winners for their outstanding performances. A touching highlight of the programme was the planting of a sapling in memory of the recently deceased grandmother of a student, symbolising love, gratitude and remembrance of elders. The event concluded with the message “Caring Today for a Kinder Tomorrow,” inspiring students to build compassionate and inclusive communities.
