Department of Statistics at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli,
hosted a one-day National Level Workshop on Data Analysis and Visualization.
3rd October 2025, the Department of Statistics at St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, hosted a one-day National Level Workshop on Data Analysis and Visualization Using Jamovi, with Dr. S. Mohan Prabhu, Associate Professor of Statistics at Amity University, Bengaluru, as the Resource Person. The workshop was attended by 55 participants from various esteemed institutions, including T.U.K Arts College and Kuntaavai Naacchiyaar Government Arts College for Women in Thanjavur, National College, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, and St. Joseph’s College, Tiruchirappalli.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. R. Vijayakumar, Head, Department of Statistics, followed by the inaugural address delivered by Rev. Dr. S. Mariadoss SJ, Principal, St. Joseph’s College, and then the sessions conducted by the resource person. The workshop aimed to provide hands-on experience with Jamovi software to enhance participants analytical, research, and technical skills in data analysis and visualization.
Participants engaged in hands-on training sessions conducted in the ECC Lab, allowing them to practically apply the concepts learned. The workshop was well-received, with participants appreciating the practical approach and user-friendly software interface. Many highlighted how the workshop helped them better understand complex statistical concepts and apply them in academic research and projects. This initiative significantly contributed to building capacity in modern statistical methods among students and researchers, fostering a stronger research culture across the participating institutions.
The valedictory address was delivered by Dr. D. Kumar, Deputy Principal, St. Joseph’s College, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants, emphasizing the importance of continued learning and the practical application of statistical tools like Jamovi in academic research and professional growth. The event concluded with a valedictory function during which certificates were distributed to the participants.
