The Youth Red Cross (YRC), St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli successfully organized a Hands-on Training Programme on First Aid on February 17, 2026, at 2.00 p.m. at the Community Centre of the college campus.

The programme was conducted with the objective of equipping students with essential life-saving skills and enhancing their preparedness to respond effectively during medical emergencies. The initiative witnessed active participation from students, reflecting their commitment to community service and emergency response readiness.

Dr.Subburethina Bharathi, Deputy General Manager, kauvery Hospital, Trichy, delivered his speech about the critical importance of first aid knowledge in saving lives during unforeseen situations and encouraged students to develop a sense of social responsibility and humanitarian service.

The technical session was handled by Mr. K.V.Madhavan, Regional Emergency Technician, Department of Emergency, Kauvery Hospital, Tiruchirappalli. He provided comprehensive training on key first aid procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), management of fractures, control of bleeding, and immediate response strategies for common medical emergencies. The session was highly interactive and practice-oriented, enabling participants to gain hands-on experience under professional supervision.

The programme was coordinated by the YRC Coordinators, Dr. M. Francis Sathiyaseelan, Dr. K. Antony Raja, and Dr. B. Nalini, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event.

The training programme concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to fostering socially responsible and skilled youth capable of responding effectively in times of need.
